Frank Garcia Parcel Club - September

A little late working on my FG September kit - It's already October but I'm just busting out the September kit. This one is a beauty - Since no one can truly duplicate Frank's original, I just put my own shabby spin on it and honestly, I love how it turned out...

The core of the kit is one of the new Tim Holtz folios, along with other curated items - It was super fun to play with. Frank gave instructions on how to turn the folio into a unique album and add lots of detailed features to each page. Again, my final project deviates a LOT from Frank's...but you can check out his original design on his Instagram account here...

I really just love this little gem. It's totally me and represents exactly the way I like to craft - simple, shabby, romantic, ethereal - yep...it's exactly what I wanted!

I fussy cut one of the birds from the ephemera pack that was included - not a big bird lover but he is cute! And I LOVE these rub-ons that were included in the kit - they make collaging so fun and easy...

The kit includes a few pieces of really pretty lace trim - but the gorgeous seam binding I used in my project is from my stash, and purchased a while ago from one of my favorite Etsy sellers (turned life-long friend!) Erin of My Scrap Cabin Shop. She has tons of colors available; I used "Dusty Pink" and "Mushroom" here - so pretty.

I love the creative jumpstart a project like this gives me each month. My advice when considering a project-based kit club is - don't try to create the EXACT same project as the designer. No need to fuss over every little sentence of the instructions or every detail of each photo. Just think of the kit as a monthly class - learn a few great techniques and use it to spark your own imagination of what you envision the project to look like...in other words, DO YOUR OWN THING! The designer will not be offended that you used their talent and expertise as a jumpstart for your own creativity...- so don't be afraid to deviate - and deviate wildly if you like! - It's YOUR project - so just have fun, do your thing!

Hugs, Cris
